Xia Chao
[edit]- ... that Xia Chao, police chief of Zhejiang, had his supposed successor beaten up during his inauguration and then tried to bribe him? (Source: Blood Road: The Mystery of Shen Dingyi in Revolutionary China pp. 41, 270)
- ALT1:... that following his failed rebellion in 1926, civil governor Xia Chao was shot, beheaded, and his head put on a spike? (Source: China's warlords, p. 160; The Northern Expedition: China's National Revolution of 1926-1928, p. 91)

- Article is new enough, long enough, neutral, and well referenced. I find ALT1 more interesting, and it's supported by reliable sources, although I have to AGF as Google books does not let me read them. QPQ is done. No copyvio found. I'd suggest a slightly modified ALT1 for conciseness and better grammar:
- ALT1a:... that following his failed rebellion in 1926, governor Xia Chao was executed and his severed head was displayed on a spike?
